The bateaux were used to transport goods and people along the river from the 1700’s up until the early 1900’s. This event promises fun for the whole family. Activities include a fishing clinic, kids fishing derby, game station, river races, car show and live music. Festivities continue throughout the day. The adventurous two-mile race has a variety of categories - canoe, kayak, inflatable craft, and homemade river vessels. Pre-registration is encouraged. Prizes are awarded for the fishing derby and races. Food and drink are available for sale. Rain date is July 26. There's a nominal registration fee.

Don't miss this hands-on camp for high school students. The camp focuses on the study of the Chesapeake Bay and its watersheds through intensive study of water quality, soils, forestry and a service learning project along the James River.
